This sprawling, open shrub is native to the washes and rocky slopes of the Sonoran Desert It is usually leafless, with succulent green stems to 4 feet in height. Small, showy tubular red flowers occur from spring to fall, and are irresistible to hummingbirds. Blooms are more prominent after rains. Plant in full sun and well–drained soil.
