Pollinator and Nectar Garden Workshop
Bringing Life to Your Garden: Creating Pollinator and Nectar Paradises
Service Description
Creating Pollinator & Nectar Gardens Join us at DesertStrawHouse for a hands-on workshop exploring how to design gardens that support pollinators while thriving in the desert. In Creating Pollinator & Nectar Gardens, you’ll learn how thoughtful plant choices and garden design can provide food, shelter, and seasonal resources for bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinating species. This workshop combines ecology, observation, and real-world garden strategies to help you create landscapes that are both beautiful and alive with activity. Please note: This workshop is designed for adults and is not appropriate for children under the age of 13. Workshop Highlights Pollinator Power Learn why pollinators are essential to healthy ecosystems and food production, and how gardens can play a meaningful role in supporting them — even in desert environments. Designing for Pollinators Explore the principles of pollinator-friendly garden design, including selecting nectar-rich plants, creating layered and diverse plant communities, and providing year-round resources. Real-World Inspiration Walk through the DesertStrawHouse pollinator and nectar gardens and see working examples of habitat-focused design in action. Gain ideas you can adapt to your own space, large or small. Expert Guidance Lisha Astorga will guide the workshop, sharing practical tips and insights based on years of growing and observing pollinator gardens in the desert.
